Formed in 1988, Blur are an English rock band comprising Daman Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree. The success of the band’s first few albums, including the ubiquitous “Parklife” saw them placed at the centre of late 90s ‘cool Britannia’, ground they shared with rivals (at least in the media) Oasis.
The single “Song 2” reached an appropriate No.2 in the UK charts and was nominated for MTV’s Best Group Video and Best British Single. Coxon left the group in 2002, whilst recording their 7th album “Think Tank”.
Blur recorded no new songs after 2003, but all reunited for live shows in 2009. They then released “The Magic Whip” album in 2015, which became the 6th consecutive Blur album to top the UK charts. They also received a Brit Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music in 2012.
