Formed in California in 1996, Queens of the Stone Age are an American rock band consisting of Josh Homme, Troy Van Leeuwen, Michael Shuman, Dean Fertita and Jon Theodore. Formed when Homme’s previous group, Kyuss, disbanded, it was QOTSA’s second album "Rated R" that launched their international success.
Released in 2000, the album contained some of the group’s best-known singles, including "The Lost Art of Keeping a Secret" and "Feel Good Hit of the Summer." Although the latter single received some criticism for a perceived celebration of drug use, both songs made the Top 40 UK charts. Queens of the Stone Age have often collaborated with ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons and musician Mark Lanegan.
