Alexandra Imelda Cecelia Ewin Burke (born 1988) is an English singer, songwriter and voice actor who rose to fame after winning the ITV series The X Factor in 2008. Her winner’s single “Hallelujah” became the European Record Holder for single sales in 24 Hours, selling 105 000 in one day.
Burke spent Christmas at number 1, and in January 2009 had sold over 1 million copies in the UK alone. She then released her first album “Overcome” which debuted at top of the charts. The album was one of the most successful in the UK that year, and earned her 3 Brit Award nominations.
In 2014, she won the lead role in the West End musical The Bodyguard, and as of 2015 she is touring the British Isles with the musical.
